Buenos Aires, 10 Jan 2012 (EFE) .- Argentina last year recorded a new record for organ donation, with a total of 604 actual donors that allowed 1376 people to receive a transplant, officials said.
According to a Central Unique National Institute Coordinator of Ablation and Implant (INCUCAI) under the Ministry of Health, Argentina in 2011 reached a rate of 15.1 donors per million inhabitants, which ranks him "to the forefront region in terms of donation. "
Of the total number of transplants performed last year, 901 were kidney, 321 liver, 101 heart, 25 lung, 9 pancreatic, 4 and 15 intestinal transplants combined.
Also materialized and 931 corneal transplants were performed 68 transplants of hematopoietic stem cells (CPH) with unrelated donor.
