Nuclear plant exploded and France panics

The French Nuclear Safety Authority on Monday denied that there has been a radiation leak as a result of the explosion of a furnace in the Marcoule nuclear complex in southeastern France, which caused at least one dead and four wounded.

"There were issues outside the facility," said this in a statement shortly before the Ministry of Environment, responsible for nuclear, confirmed that "there is no impact to the outside" of the explosion.

The NSA confirmed that one person was killed and four injured, one seriously, in the explosion Monday at the nuclear facility Centraco (Center for Treatment and Packaging Waste weak activity, its acronym in French).

"According to initial reports, it is the explosion of a furnace used to melt metal radioactive waste of low and very low activity," according to a statement from the ASN.

The company that operates the facility, "launched its emergency plan in accordance with internal procedures" for these cases, the ASN said.

We know how often lie and withhold information the nuclear industry, so we'll see in a few days.
